ACMC caregivers and community members gathered hundreds of boxes of school supplies to help local schoolchildren and teachers start the year off right. This project was hosted by ACMC’s Nursing Shared Governance Council. Boosting Good Karma. In May, the Nursing Shared Governance Council presented a check to Good Karma Kitchen for $5,374 to provide meals for those who may not have access to daily meals. At a cost of about $1 a meal, ACMC caregivers and community members raised enough for thousands of meals—with money left over for Good Karma Kitchen to buy needed cooking equipment and supplies. thrive to Helping our hearts. Each year, ACMC also contributes to the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. For the past two years, ACMC exceeded its Heart Walk goal of $20,000, making it one of the largest contributors from Ashtabula County and accounting for about one-fifth of the county’s total donation goal. Spreading holiday cheer. Last December, 28 departments from across the hospital joined forces to provide Christmas gifts to 100 children and teens in foster care through Ashtabula County Children Services. So many gifts were collected that five vehicles and an extra trailer were filled to capacity. Even more gifts were delivered at a later time.
